With the full moon fast approaching, (the closest full moon to earth since 1948!) and recent political changes I’m finding that my sleep patterns have strayed from their usual peaceful rhythm. In case you are experiencing the same here are a few time tested offerings that I find helpful:
A cup of Lavender Chamomile tea. Rose, my dear friend and our Lead Production Associate crafted me a simple yet powerful blend of lemon balm, lavender, and chamomile. If you don’t have access to a homemade blend I really love Traditional Medicinal’s Lavender Chamomile tea. Steep TWO tea bags for ten minuets and bring the cup of tea into bed with you. Notice the aromatics of the plants and the warm comfort that flows through your body.
Goodnight Aromatherapy Roll On. I love this scent and incorporating it into my night time rituals. Roll it on the soles of feet, into the palms and underneath the nose before bed. Once I put it on and settle into my comfortable sleeping position I’m reminded of the feeling I would get in my younger years as my mom tucked me in under a clean heavy blanket. If you wake up in the middle of the night simply apply again, take a few gentle breaths and feel the comforting warmth of your own bed.
A couple drops of Lavender. Place a couple drops of pure wild crafted french lavender or deep calm synergy on a tissue and stick it in your pillow case. The familiarity of these gentle, pleasant scents brings me so much reassurance.
Embrace it? Lastly consider embracing the strange sleep schedule. Maybe it has some wisdom to offer. I’ve found myself writing, pulling tarot and goddess cards or reading until I can get back to sleep. These moments alone in the deep night/early morning have been the most peaceful and reassured I have felt over the last couple of days. They allow me to become grounded and circle back to what I know to be true: nature knows, keep loving, keep going.
